SCCM is governed by a board of directors made up of member-owners democratically elected by it’s shareholders – the co-op’s member-owners. The Board is accountable and has delegated power to always act in the best interest of the cooperative and the community it serves. Once built, the Board will oversee operations of the future store by a profession staff. SCCM will not be a “volunteer run” store, although board members are unpaid volunteers. Ownership of the co-op by community members means the benefits and control remain within the community.
